Flatulence was loudly heard during Joe Biden climate czar John Kerry’s speech before the United Nations COP28 Climate Conference, prompting many to highlight the irony in speaking out on cutting back manmade emissions.
The embarrassing faux pas unfolded Sunday as the former Skull & Bones member was getting heated about banning coal power plants, when he evidently let one slip.
“There shouldn’t be any more coal-fired power plants permitted anywhere in the world,” Kerry said.
“I find myself getting more and more militant because I do not understand how adults who are in a position of responsibility can be avoiding responsibility for taking away those things that are killing people on a daily basis…”
At this point Kerry, or someone near a microphone, emitted a loud low-pitched rumble, presumed to be the sound of passing gas.
The irony of the climate czar emitting methane while speaking out on cutting back manmade emissions was a source of great hilarity on social media.

Even more hilarious, Kerry actually spoke out against the “dangers” of methane gas just one day earlier.
Reducing methane emissions by at least 30% in 2030 is totally in line with the global methane pledge which could avoid over 0.2°C of warming by 2050. Every expert agrees that dealing with methane which in its early years of release into the atmosphere is 80 to 100 times more destructive than CO2 or dealing with it in the later years when it is still 20 times more destructive than CO2 is critical to our ability to hold on to 1.5°C. The fact is that tackling methane fugitive gas which now rises from the thawing of permafrost in the tundra in Alaska, in Russia it is fugitive gas and it just is out there doing damage unless we discover how we’re going to stop it or keep it from leaking or flaring or venting.
So my friends this is the fastest, simplest, easiest, quickest, cheapest way to be able to make the gains we need to make to reduce the threat to the planet.
