A House Select Subcommittee hearing was held Thursday investigating the “weaponization” of the federal government to silence critics as exposed in the Twitter Files.

Check out highlights from the hearings below (Watch Live link at bottom of page):

Matt Taibbi’s opening statement:

Author Michael Shellenberger commented on how the “DHS is Building a Censorship Industrial Complex”:

Shellenberger testified to Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-NY) the FBI did “direct” Twitter to censor certain accounts.

Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) praised journalist Matt Taibbi and Shellenberger, saying “our federal government need to be fumigated.”

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) discussed the weaponization of the CDC against the American people as noted in Twitter Files #13:

Matt Taibbi detailed how the FBI colluded with Twitter to censor free speech:

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) showed the Biden regime unconstitutionally demanded Twitter censor Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.:

Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) played a clip of Richard Stengel, the founder of the State Department’s Global Engagement Center (GEC), saying: “I’m not against propaganda. Every country does it; they have to do it to their own population, and I don’t think it’s that awful.”

Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) explained the government “does not get to decide what speech is acceptable or true:

Democratic Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-NY) downplayed the credibility of Taibbi and Shellenberger, referring to them as “so-called journalists,” and claimed they “pose a direct threat to people who oppose them.”

Rep. Plaskett’s criticisms of the witnesses were rebuked by Rep. Jordan:

Democrats also freaked out as they attempted to get Taibbi to reveal his sources.

Rep. Slyvia Garcia (R-Texas) had trouble understanding what SubStack is.

Democrat Rep. Debbie Wassmerman Schultz (D-Fla.) claimed Taibbi benefitted from his publication of the Twitter Files:
