Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and CNN anchor Dana Bash got into a heated back-and-forth Sunday over reports of Haitians eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.
During the interview on “State of the Union,” Bash scolded Vance for bringing attention to the issue of Haitian migrants abducting and eating pets and wildlife in the small Ohio town as voiced by his constituents.
“So, instead of saying things that are wrong and actually causing the hospitals, the schools, the government buildings to be evacuated because of bomb threats, because of the cats and dogs thing, why not actually be constructive in helping to better integrate them into the community, because [there are] a lot of employers there who say that the Haitian workers are helping fill jobs that they need desperately filled?” Bash said.
.@JDVance: "I want to start with something you said that is disgusting and is more appropriate for a Democrat propagandist than a journalist — You just accused me of inciting violence against [Springfield] when all I have done is surfaced the complaints of my constituents." 🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/52CfEPdKSS

Vance responded, “Dana, first of all, let me just respond to a couple of things that you said, but I wanna start with something you said, which I think is frankly disgusting and is more appropriate for a Democratic propagandist than it is for an American journalist.”
“There is nothing that I have said that has led to threats against these hospitals. These hospitals, the bomb threats, and so forth, it’s disgusting. The violence is disgusting. We condemn it. We condemn all violence.”
“Senator, this happened after you —” Bash cut in, with the anchor and Trump running mate talking over each other.
Trump’s running mate then asked Bash to let him finish his remarks without interruption, much like she did when interviewing Kamala Harris and her running mate Gov. Tim Walz (Minn.) last month.

“What we have said is that this town has suffered terribly…under the policies of Kamala Harris. Now, you just [accused] me of inciting violence against the community when all that I’ve done is surface the complaints of my constituents, people who are suffering because of Kamala Harris’s policies,” Vance later added.
Days after the migrant crisis in Springfield drew national attention when Trump brought it up during the presidential debate, the municipal employees reportedly received a bomb threat email against City Hall on Thursday, and another was reported on Friday.
Local police and FBI agents based in Dayton are working “to determine the origin of these email threats,” the city official said.
Coincidentally, there are also reports that “hate groups” are descending on Springfield, which the media have been demanding Trump and Vance denounce.
Vance hit back at Bash and the media who blamed him and Trump for those developments during the heated CNN interview.
Just to make one final point on this, Dana, you’ve heard a lot of the media focusing on every possible distraction from the story in Springfield. You’ve heard them focus on this Proud Boys march.
Just in this interview, the suggestion that because some psychopath is calling in bomb threats, somehow we have to then ignore 40,000 Springfield residents who are having their lives worsened by Kamala Harris’s policies.
What is the implication, Dana? I’d actually love to have this conversation right now, live on air. What is the implication when you say, “You calling out these problems has caused a bomb threat?” You accused me of causing a bomb threat. Doesn’t that mean I should shut up about the residents of Springfield? Don’t you realize you’re engaged in basic propaganda to silence the concerns of American citizens?
The timing of these bomb threats, the hate group flyers, and the FBI’s “hate crime” billboard in Springfield is more than suspect, according to reporter Julie Kelly.
“I regret to inform you the Feds are doing it again. Best way to silence what’s happening in Springfield is to turn it into a mini Jan 6 complete with ‘bomb’ threats and fed infiltrated militias,” Kelly wrote on X Sunday.

Alex Jones offered a similar analysis, saying that “the Globalist-controlled FBI is looking for a Jessie Smollett type to claim they have been victimized to change the narrative. It’s the people of Springfield, Ohio that are being victimized and under attack by the replacement migration program of the Biden/Harrison administration.”
