GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance confronted CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins Tuesday evening as she attempted to claim reports of Haitians eating pets in Ohio were false.
Mentioning how former President Donald Trump touched on the alarming allegations during Tuesday night’s presidential debate, Collins questioned why the pair are discussing the topic she claimed was disputed by city officials, asking, “Why push something that’s not true?”
Without missing a beat, the US Senator from Ohio shot back that numerous reports have emerged from members of the community claiming pets have gone missing.

“Well, first of all, city officials have not said it’s not true. They said they don’t have all the evidence,” Vance retorted, adding, “We’ve heard from a number of constituents on the ground, who both firsthand and secondhand reports saying this stuff is happening.”
“So they very clearly, meaning the people on the ground dealing with this, think that it is happening.”
Here’s one Springfield resident claiming she saw a Haitian driving around in a van picking up cats:

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO UPDATE
During the Presidential debate, fact-checkers at ABC News stated that Donald Trump's claims of the Haitian immigrants "eating dogs and cats" had no credible reports according to the town's city manager.

Vance noted it’s the media’s job to go establish the facts, and reminded Collins even if it’s not 100% true, that the people of Springfield are still having to endure the problems that come with importing and transplanting 20,000 third world illegal immigrants.
“And I think that it’s important for journalists to actually get on the ground and uncover this stuff for themselves, when you have a lot of people saying my pets are being abducted or geese at the city pond are being abducted and slaughtered right in front of us. This is crazy stuff.”
“And again, whether those exact rumors turn out to be mostly true, somewhat true, whatever the case may be, Kaitlan, this town has been ravaged by 20,000 migrants coming in. Healthcare costs are up, housing costs are up, communicable diseases like HIV and TB have skyrocketed in this small Ohio town,” Vance added.
The vice presidential candidate went on to note it was curious the only way to get attention on the matter was by spinning it into a massive meme.
“This is what Kamala Harris’ border policies have done. And I think it’s interesting, Kaitlan, that the media didn’t care about the carnage brought by these policies until we turned it into a meme about cats. And that speaks to the media’s failure to care about what’s going on in these communities.”
“If we have to meme about it to get the media to care, we’re going to keep on doing it because the media could should care about what’s going on,” he concluded.
In an amazing moment during Tuesday’s debate, Trump highlighted the disturbing accounts coming out of Ohio documenting Haitian migrants snatching ducks from local ponds and rounding up cats, presumably to eat or conduct voodoo rituals.

Meanwhile, reporters who went to Springfield to investigate have spoken to residents who’ve personally witnessed horrific animal abuse at the hands of Haitian migrants, with one woman telling journalist Tayler Hansen she’d seen “a pig’s head laying down in Snyder Park,” the same location where Haitians allegedly took some local geese to eat or sacrifice.

Another woman claimed she’d received a firsthand account from a Springfield resident, who reported their neighbor’s cat had been abducted by Haitian neighbors and saw it strung up from a tree, saying, “and they were carving the cat up to eat.”
The Fake News reporter was clearly not prepared for Vance to have an answer that placed culpability for missing animals squarely at the Biden-Harris administration’s feet.
