Britain’s King Charles and Queen Camilla had eggs thrown at them on Wednesday as a crowd in York greeted the royals.
The man who tossed the eggs reportedly yelled, “This country was built on the blood of slaves,” while he was being arrested by police.
An eyewitness told the BBC, “I glanced across, the police just descended on the barrier and tried to drag this chap over the top. About five eggs he’d managed to send. Camilla sort of flinched a little bit when the booing started but they quelled it really quickly. Just a shame they spoilt what was a lovely moment.”
People in the crowd shouted, “God save the king” and “Shame on you” after the eggs were thrown.
A photographer captured the moment an egg was mid-air, heading toward King Charles.
We actually have a picture of an egg flying towards King Charles. This is poetry in motion
