Watch: Liz Cheney Compares Herself to Abraham Lincoln in ‘Delusional’ Concession Speech

Cheney suggested her devastating loss may not be the end of her political career, much like Lincoln who lost several elections before ascending to the presidency.
She also told the Today Show she's "thinking about" running for president.

Outgoing Wyoming congresswoman Liz Cheney (R) awkwardly invoked United States President Abraham Lincoln during her concession speech after a sound defeat in Tuesday night’s primary election.

Cheney suggested her devastating loss to MAGA candidate Harriet Hageman does not signal the end of the road for her politically, much like Lincoln who lost several elections before ascending to the presidency.

“The great and original champion of our party, Abraham Lincoln, was defeated in elections for the Senate and the House before he won the most important election of all,” Cheney told supporters in Jackson, Wyoming.

“Lincoln ultimately prevailed, he saved our union, and he defined our obligation as Americans for all of history.”

“Speaking at Gettysburg of the great task remaining before us, Lincoln said that, ‘We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people, shall not perish from this earth.’ As we meet here tonight, that remains our greatest and most important task,” she stated.

The comparison to arguably one of the greatest presidents in US history was widely mocked on social media.

The remarks also prompted many to question whether she was considering a bid for the presidency, which she confirmed she was “thinking about” in a Wednesday interview with NBC’s Today Show.

Elsewhere in her speech, Cheney also compared herself to the 18th US president and Union Army commanding general Ulysses S. Grant for her relentless opposition of President Donald Trump.

Evidently, Cheney is oblivious it’s that very opposition to Trump and her position on the Jan. 6 Committee that cost her the election.
