Representatives from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department, FBI and Secret Service held a joint press conference Monday following a second assassination attempt on Donald Trump this past Sunday, indicating they’re investigating the incident as a serious attempt on the former president’s life and are looking further into the suspect, focusing on his criminal history as well as an obliterated serial number on the loaded SKS rifle found at the scene.
The public briefing comes as Martin County, Florida, Sheriff William D. Snyder also spoke to the press on Monday, warning a forthcoming investigation could find suspected gunman Ryan Wesley Routh didn’t act alone.

“Is he a lone gunman? If he’s a lone gunman, then President Trump is that much safer because we have him. But, if he’s part of a conspiracy then this thing really takes on a very ominous tone,” Snyder said.
