Texas soldiers fired pepper balls toward a group of nearly 50 illegal border crossers after they reached the U.S. side of the Rio Grande this week, according to reports.

The incident unfolded on Wednesday in Eagle Pass, where mass crossings are once again a regular occurrence.

Initially, a man and woman were first sent across the border river as a “test run” to see how authorities on the U.S. side would respond, NewsNation’s Ali Bradley reported.

They were ordered to cross back to Mexico and present themselves at a port of entry.

After the pair claimed they had “almost drowned” and could not return because the Mexican military was preventing them from doing so, they were directed to a shallower point in the river and then warned that soldiers would begin deploying their “pepper ball system” if they did not vacate the area.

The illegals eventually walked away, however, a group of around 45 ‘migrants’ then illegally crossed the international boundary and Texas soldiers took action, firing pepper balls at the ground to create an “irritant cloud” to disperse the mob.

Dozens of illegals reportedly kept walking along the fence and were eventually apprehended by Border Patrol.

It is unclear what became of the illegals from that point.

Mexican soldiers turned up at the scene in a Humvee and trucks, but reportedly made no attempt to thwart any crossings to the U.S. side.

“They then stood there in an intimidating posture preventing migrants from turning back,” Bradley said.

“Migrants reported that Mexican military/police were not allowing them to cross at the port legally.”

While Eagle Pass and neighboring Piedras Negras formed an epicenter of the Biden-Harris invasion through the last days of 2023, that front has been relatively quiet for much of this year.

That trend has started breaking, as large groups are once again swarming the area on a daily basis.

Sources tell InfoWars that control of Piedras Negras, located in Coahuila state, has fallen into the hands of a dangerous cartel, and that Mexican authorities have grown weary of holding the line.

InfoWars will monitor developments in the Eagle Pass area in the coming months.
