Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters (Calif.) let the cat out of the bag during a DOGE hearing on Capitol Hill Wednesday, admitting she fears what the Elon Musk-headed task force in charge of rooting out fraud, waste and abuse could discover.
“Well, you know what happened at Treasury and you know what happened over at the CFPB and the people of this country are being violated because all of our privacy has been taken up about Elon Musk and Trump. And we don’t know what all they have on us,” she said, adding, “our bank accounts, everything that’s in our lives.”

Waters made the surprising remark amid questioning of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, who she asked if he’d allow Department of Government Efficiency officials to have access to fed systems.
Powell replied he couldn’t answer Waters’ question and has not been contacted by DOGE thus far.
Waters’ and other Democrats’ growing opposition to DOGE and its efforts to eliminate government waste raises questions over what they’re hiding, and strengthens the case for allowing DOGE to investigate them.
