In a surprising turn of events, charges have been downgraded for the man who wrecked a U-Haul van into the barriers surrounding the White House.

After ramming the barriers Sai Varshith Kandula, 19, was arrested and charged with “assault with a dangerous weapon, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, threatening to kill / kidnap / inflict harm on a president, vice president, or family member, destruction of federal property, and trespassing,” according to the US National Park Service.

The large U-Haul Kandula was driving contained one crisp Nazi swastika flag, leading to claims he was a white supremacist, and he’d reportedly said he’d been planning for 6 months to “Kill the President If that’s what I have to do,” and also threatened to “get to the White House, seize power, and be put in charge of the nation.” 

Despite the serious nature of the allegations and his threats, most charges against him were dropped Thursday and “downgraded to a single count of depredation of property of the United States in excess of $1,000,” the New York Post reports.

Furthermore, it’s unclear whether Kandula is a US citizen; he’s not a citizen according to Fox News, but CBS News reports he is a citizen.

What is clear, however, is the entire situation is incredibly fishy, which numerous people highlighted on social media.

Speculation swirled in the immediate aftermath of the incident that it may have been a staged false flag attack carried out by corrupt federal agencies.

Those theories appeared to have been corroborated once the suspect was named as Kandula, especially considering he didn’t exactly fit the bill of a white supremacist.

Now it appears as though the feds are trying to clean up their botched psyop.
