The White House quickly deleted a tweet claiming seniors are to receive big Social Security increases Wednesday night after Twitter placed a fact check warning on it, noting that other readers had some added “context” to share.
The original tweet echoed a claim made by Joe Biden during his rambling speech.
Biden stated “And on my watch, for the first time in 10 years, seniors are getting an increase in their Social Security checks. So, checks are going to be up and Medicare payments are going to be down.”
The tweet was misleading, and was clearly sent out to give the impression that the Biden administration is increasing checks, when in reality they are merely being adjusted to reflect the rampant 40 year record high inflation Biden has presided over.
When the White House Press Secretary was asked why the tweet was deleted she replied that “it was not complete,” and then reeled off a line about “MAGA Republicans” being a threat:
Any suspension or ‘time out’ coming for the White House Twitter account?
That’s exactly what happened to the New York Post and countless others who were ‘fact checked’ under the old Twitter regime, even though what they posted turned out to be accurate.
The Biden White House is reportedly ramping up a ‘war on disinformation’, hounding social media platforms to further crackdown.
Be careful what you ask for.
