Footage shared online Monday shows the terrifying moment a man jumped into New York City’s 9/11 memorial reflection pool and left a bloody mark in the water as he went headfirst into the pool’s bottom layer.
According to the NYPD, a 33-year-old man jumped down the 30-foot wall and into the shallow pool of the World Trade Center’s north tower.
Next, the man dropped down another 20 feet into the bottom level of the pool, which only holds about 18 inches of water.
The individual was left bloodied from his falls and was taken to Bellevue Hospital by the police who say there is no evidence the act was political or related to the recent Hamas attack on Israel.
