The Ukrainian military launched several U.S.-made long-range missiles into the Bryansk region of Russia on Tuesday, just one day after Joe Biden authorized the use of the weapons and Russian President Vladimir Putin changed the nation’s nuclear doctrine.
Using the American MGM-140 Army Tactical Missile System, Volodymyr Zelensky’s troops sent at least six missiles towards a Russian ammo depot with five being intercepted by air defense systems and one being partially hit.
The one missile that fell through started a fire but didn’t injure anyone, according to the Russian Defense Ministry and New York Post.
The assault took place after Russia warned earlier in the week that “the use of Western non-nuclear rockets by the Armed Forces of Ukraine against Russia can prompt a nuclear response.”
The Ukrainian military is currently not saying what missiles were used in the attack, but sources communicating with Ukrainian outlets Forbes Ukraine and RBC Ukraine said ATACMS were used for the first time.
Soon after the attack on the Bryansk region ammo depot, 12 more explosions took place near the area of the strikes.

Perhaps the Russian government will remain reserved amid the blatant escalation attempts.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said after Biden gave the green-light for Ukraine to use the long-range missiles, “It is obvious that the outgoing administration in Washington intends to take steps, and they have been talking about this, to continue adding fuel to the fire and provoking further escalation of tensions around this conflict.”
