The Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, whose term has already expired, is currently meeting with Democrats in America and speaking at the U.N. General Assembly, signing his name on munitions in Scranton, Pennsylvania and criticizing Republican Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance. Despite his warlike actions, the actor-turned-wartime leader is signaling that he sees his war against Russia coming to an end soon, but rules out negotiations.
“I think that we are closer to the peace than we think. We are closer to the end of the war. We just have to be very strong, very strong,” Zelensky said, according to RT on Tuesday.

These statements come as his country faces the loss of over 16,700 soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia that Ukraine has recently invaded.
Interestingly, being closer to the end of the war didn’t stop Zelensky from signing his name on munitions in Scranton, Pennsylvania on Monday, munitions that are earmarked for use by his military to kill Russians.

“Zelensky kicked off his visit at the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant in Biden’s hometown, where he thanked workers for providing Ukraine with munitions and said the facility would ramp up production of 155mm artillery shells crucial for Kyiv’s war effort,” CNN said Monday.
Zelensky himself commented on the morbid activity, one that risks the nuclear targeting of Scranton should a wider war be initiated.
“It is in places like this where you can truly feel that the democratic world can prevail,” he said according to CNN on Monday. “Thanks to people like these – in Ukraine, in America and in all partner countries who work tirelessly to ensure that life is protected.”

While continuing the war appears to coincide with the actions taken by Zelensky while in Pennsylvania, so do his recent statements.
“It is not about negotiation with Russia,” Zelensky said, according to RT on Tuesday. He went on to say that his ‘scheme’ is intended to serve as “a bridge to [a] diplomatic way how to stop the war.”
It is hard to make out what Zelensky meant by ‘diplomatic’ when he discounted ‘negotiations’.
Ending the war is also counter to Zelensky’s message at the U.N. General Assembly, where he spoke in favor of hyping up support for his war in the face of Israel getting all the attention.
“With his recent public messaging, Mr. Zelensky is well on his way to succeeding with what is likely his most achievable goal for his U.S. visit: trying to regain attention for a war that in its third year has been overshadowed by the conflict in Gaza,” The New York Times said Tuesday.
Czech President Petr Pavel, a former NATO general has recently said that Ukraine needs to face the reality that it will not get back some of its former territory. Namely, territories of Russian speaking peoples in the east of the country which Ukraine had been attacking since 2014, triggering the current conflict with Russia.
