“Mr. Attorney General, it’s time to do your job,” two Republican congressmen wrote in an op-ed on Monday.
Reps. Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz want Attorney General Jeff Sessions to appoint a second special counsel to look into questions involving the Clintons, the Clinton Foundation, former FBI Director James Comey, the Russian dossier, and the Uranium One deal.
Later on Monday, Fox News and the Washington Post reported that Sessions has asked Justice Department prosecutors to find out “whether any matters merit the appointment of a Special Counsel.”
Sessions is scheduled to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee later today (Tuesday), and the possibility of appointing a special prosecutor is sure to come up then.
On Monday night, Jordan told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham that the Justice Department must have been listening to him:
“It’s amazing. Today we do an op-ed, and suddenly, the Department of Justice has had a come-to-Jesus moment and now there’s going to be a special counsel, at least they’re talking about a special counsel.
