Former presidential candidate Ron Paul said he is against the government getting involved in regulating Facebook.

“I would be certainly opposed at the government — the Congress or anybody else — trying to restrain Facebook,” he said.

During an interview on Fox Business Network, Paul said Facebook “started this” because the company wants to make deals with the government so it can “participate in the government spying on us” and “I think that’s really a big problem.”

Paul is a former Republican congressman who ran for president with the Libertarian Party in 1988 and ran again as a Republican in 2008 and 2012.
