Mayor Jimmy Davis is calling on the city’s Board of Education to “come clean” on the $11.8 million that he says it owes the city, according to a press release issued from City Hall this morning.

Last month, Business Administrator Joe DeMarco sent a letter to the board explaining that the city issued bonds to raise money for school construction.

The city then put that money in the hands of the board, with the expectation that it’d get the money back after the board got reimbursed by the Schools Development Authority – a state agency – for construction work.
