A water supply company is working to flush lines after tap water turned yellow. The off-colored water impacted five San Benito [Texas] schools.

School officials said the five schools affected are located in the county. They are Riverside Middle School, La Paloma Elementary, La Encantada Elementary, Rangerville Elementary and Angela Gerusa Leal Elementary.

The district says they started using bottled water to drink and cook with on Thursday.

The school district issued a statement about the situation.

“San Benito CISD school officials alerted Military Highway Water Supply representatives regarding concerns with the water quality. The company has taken measures to drain the lines and the quality of the water has since shown improvement,” the statement read.
