Hundreds of Syrians gathered in a landmark square in Damascus on Monday to show support for the Syrian government’s armed forces after the air strikes by the U.S. and its allies, the Associated Press reported.
State television broadcast the rally live as participants waved Syrian flags and set off fireworks and celebratory gunfire, the AP reported.
People could be heard shouting “Allah, Syria, and only Bashar,” a reference to Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
The U.S., U.K. and France launched missile strikes on three chemical weapons facilities in Syrian on Friday.
