It all happened in the very same Texas county where we recently reported on an officer threatening a driver for recording them.
Texas Border Sheriff’s Deputy Amy Reyes is now being slapped with federal drug smuggling charges. This comes on the heels of her arrest at a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint north of Laredo, Texas. That’s where agents found her vehicle packed with illegal drugs she had been smuggling, under the shield of her badge.
Court records say that Deputy Amy Reyes had been employed by the Starr County Sheriff’s Office. That career was recently brought to an end when she and her brother Bobby Reyes were busted at the U.S. Border Patrol Checkpoint in Hebbronville.
A drug-sniffing dog tipped officers to illegal drugs under Reyes’ car, as well as two secret compartments that were stuffed with more than 75 pounds of marijuana bundles.
