The trial of a Chicago police commander accused of assaulting a suspect began Tuesday.
Glenn Evans is charged with aggravated battery and official misconduct. Evans is accused of shoving the barrel of his gun down the throat of Rickey Williams after chasing him into an abandoned building on the South Side in 2013.
Williams’ DNA was found on the barrel of Evans’ gun. The defense says the DNA could have come from Williams touching the gun during his arrest.
