Donald Trump reached the number of delegates needed to clinch the GOP nomination for president Thursday after several unbound delegates flipped sides.
Trump now has 1,238 delegates, one more than he needed to clinch the nomination, and with 303 delegates still remaining at five state primaries scheduled for June 7, the mogul will avoid a contested GOP convention.
“I think he has touched a part of our electorate that doesn’t like where our country is,” one of the unbound delegates, Oklahoma GOP chairperson Pam Pollard, told the AP. “I have no problem supporting Mr. Trump.”
In April, Infowars reported that Trump had a 97% chance of securing the nomination before the convention.
Trump, who grew increasingly disgusted by the globalist takeover of the U.S., won the nomination by channeling voter rage brewing before he even announced his candidacy on June 16, 2015.
He was a wildfire candidate empowered by a populist movement outraged over Obamacare, the manufactured collapse of the U.S. economy and open border policies meant to eradicate national sovereignty.
