Trump-backed Republican U.S. Congressman Ron DeSantis is under attack after saying Florida shouldn’t “monkey this up” by voting for his opponent in the state’s gubernatorial election.

DeSantis’ opponent, Democratic Mayor Andrew Gillum, is African-American, causing many to call the remark racist despite Obama saying parties “monkey around with elections” in 2008.
