President Obama on Tuesday blasted the Republican-led Senate over its failure to take action on gun control.
Gun violence requires more than moments of silence. It requires action. In failing that test, the Senate failed the American people.

“Gun violence requires more than moments of silence. It requires action. In failing that test, the Senate failed the American people,” Obama tweeted in a sharply worded rebuke to the chamber having defeated four different proposals designed to prevent terrorism suspects from buying guns.
Moments before the post, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said his boss was “profoundly frustrated” with the lack of congressional action following the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history and blasted Senate Republicans as “cowards.”
“What we saw last night on the floor of the United States Senate is a shameful display of cowardice,” Earnest said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“I don’t know what else to call it. Cowards are people who talk really tough in the hope that they will not be asked to actually act and do something,” Earnest railed. “That’s exactly what Republicans have done.”
