The line is that all babies do in a day is eat, sleep and, well, fill their nappies, but we can now be a little more specific about what little ones should be doing every 24 hours.

Movement is the focus of new federal guidelines released today for parents and carers of children up to five years old, specifically just how much they should be getting.

The guidelines deal with three main issues: physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep.

They also make it pretty clear how much screen time infants should be getting. (Answer: none.)
