Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) appeared to be having a terrible time during a congressional hearing Wednesday where former Twitter executives testified over their role in censoring the Hunter Biden laptop story.
During the House Oversight Committee hearing, the New York congresswoman characterized the verified Hunter Biden laptop story as a “half-fake” report published “without corroboration” as part of a “right-wing political operation.”
“When New York Post first reported in October 2020 that it had obtained contents of a laptop computer, allegedly owned by Joe Biden’s son Hunter… The newspaper wasn’t sharing what it obtained. New York Post had this alleged information and was trying to publish it without any corroboration, without any backup information. They were trying to publish it to Twitter, Twitter did not let them, and now they’re upset,” she said.
“And they want the ability to do it again. They want the ability to inject this again,” Ocasio-Cortez continued. “So they’ve dragged a social media platform here in Congress. They’re weaponizing the use of this committee, so that they can do it again. A whole hearing about a 24-hour hiccup in a right-wing political operation. That is why we are here right now. It’s an abuse of public resources and an abuse of public time.”
“We could be talking about the cost of prescription drugs, abortion rights, civil rights, voting rights, but instead we’re talking about Hunter Biden’s half fake laptop story. It’s an embarrassment!” AOC exclaimed.
AOC is either lying or woefully ignorant of the facts surrounding Twitter’s censorship of the New York Post and the substance of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
The New York Post wasn’t just suspended by Twitter for 24 hours as AOC suggests, but for weeks, and it was in the days leading to the 2020 election.
Additionally, Hunter Biden’s laptop was verified by a number of third party sources – including mainstream media outlets – which is why AOC couldn’t bring herself to call the story fake outright, but rather “half-fake.”
After misleading the public about the purpose of the hearing, the far-left congresswoman then used her time to smear Libs of Tik Tok, arguing the popular Twitter user lied about Boston Children’s Hospital performing radical gender surgeries on children.
