Infowars founder Alex Jones trended on Twitter following Tesla billionaire Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social media company Monday.

With over 12 thousand tweets mentioning his name, many users questioned whether the platform’s new owner could reinstate Jones’ account after it was unceremoniously shut down back in 2018 over alleged policy violations.

All you have to do is reset Twitter back to before Alex Jones was banned & relocate the company to a more freedom friendly area. That solves most problems. And fix the spam/bot issue. No need for edit button and other niche stuff. The platform works great without the restraints.

BRING BACK ALEX JONES

I will admit that I didn't think he was actually gonna do it. Now let's see how long before Alex Jones gets unbanned.

During the Big Tech purge of August 2018, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey explained he hadn’t followed other Big Tech companies’ lead to ban Jones because he hadn’t violated any rules.
We didn’t suspend Alex Jones or Infowars yesterday. We know that’s hard for many but the reason is simple: he hasn’t violated our rules. We’ll enforce if he does. And we’ll continue to promote a healthy conversational environment by ensuring tweets aren’t artificially amplified.

Accounts like Jones' can often sensationalize issues and spread unsubstantiated rumors, so it’s critical journalists document, validate, and refute such information directly so people can form their own opinions. This is what serves the public conversation best.

That sentiment, however, was short-lived as Jones was banned less than a month after Dorsey’s tweet.
Today, we permanently suspended @realalexjones and @infowars from Twitter and Periscope. We took this action based on new reports of Tweets and videos posted yesterday that violate our abusive behavior policy, in addition to the accounts’ past violations. https://t.co/gckzUAV8GL

On Monday, Musk released a statement saying, “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
