EMS Driver, 23, Suffers Heart Attack, Crashes Ambulance, Dies

A 23-year-old paramedic in Pittsburgh suffered a heart attack as he was driving an ambulance Sunday, causing him to sustain fatal injuries after he crashed into another vehicle injuring two others.

Pittsburgh Public Safety acknowledged the death of EMS driver Nicholas A. Theofolis, saying he was “killed in the line of duty as the result of a collision.”

Pittsburgh Public Safety in a report Sunday noted: “Pittsburgh EMS found the male driver of the Penn Hills medic unit in cardiac arrest. Medic 9 transported him to the hospital in life-threatening condition. He was later pronounced deceased in the hospital.”

The report states another medic in the ambulance sustained “head trauma, facial lacerations, and a possible concussion,” but was in stable condition.

The driver of the vehicle hit by the ambulance “was complaining of abdominal pain” and was also transported to the hospital in stable condition.

“There were no patients in the ambulance at the time of the crash,” the city reported.

Public Safety Director Lee Schmidt issued a boilerplate statement saying, “This tragic incident underscores the dangers first responders face each and every day on the job.”

The accident is reminiscent of a car crash in Turkey in September caused by a bus driver who also suffered a heart attack while driving.

While details behind the cause of Theofolis’ medical emergency have not been disclosed, his incident appears to line up with a pattern emerging since introduction of Covid-19 vaccines, where vaccinated, otherwise healthy people all of a sudden experience cardiac issues that lead them to faint, convulse or die.

The phenomenon witnessed across the globe has been chronicled in a recent documentary film titled, “Died Suddenly.”
