Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) revealed she’s undergoing therapy due to the January 6th Capitol riot, calling the protest an “all-out, attempted coup.”
In an interview with Latino USA on Friday, the far-left congresswoman claimed that lawmakers at the Capitol essentially “served in war”, leading her to “take some time” to “recognize trauma.”
“After the 6th, I took some time and it was really [Rep.] Ayanna Pressley when I explained to her what happened to me, like the day of, because I ran to her office and she was like, ‘you need to recognize trauma’,” Ocasio-Cortez said, according to The Independent.
“And I feel like I learned this the hard way after my father had passed away when I was a teenager…That happened at a young age and I locked it away. You have to live with it for years,” she added.
“Oh yeah, I’m doing therapy but also I’ve just slowed down. I think the Trump administration had a lot of us, especially Latino communities, in a very reactive mode.”
AOC also praised former Vice President Mike Pence for certifying the election despite that “these terrorists, insurrectionists got into the Senate chamber.”
“Pence was the one person, arguably, that had one of the most important roles in making sure that procedurally the Electoral College counts went on as proceeded,” she said.
“Sixty seconds could have meant potentially the difference between what we have right now and a martial state,” the far-left lawmaker continued. “This was an all-out attempted coup.”
“If 60 seconds went differently, if a different door was opened, if a chair wasn’t barricaded in a certain way, we could have a completely different reality right now,” she added. “We don’t want to acknowledge that that’s how close we got, but that is how close we got.”

The insurrection was so violent and so brutal that police had to politely ask these terrorists to leave the Senate chamber.
“Any chance I could get you guys to leave the Senate wing?” an officer asks. “I just wanna let you guys know, this is like the sacredest place.”
Notably, AOC wasn’t even in the Capitol building during the incident, but at the adjacent Cannon House Office Building south of the Capitol grounds.
But that didn’t stop the radical Democrat from claiming she believed she was “going to die.”
The establishment and media have been trying to spin the riot as a full-blown “armed insurrection”, though nobody was arrested for terrorism or firearms violations.
Nevertheless, the FBI has arrested approximately 400 individuals involved in the Capitol riot and Congress is in talks to appoint a 9/11-style commission to “investigate” the incident.
