A 34-year-old New South Wales woman reportedly died this week from a blood clot following her first dose of AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine, making hers the seventh vaccine-related death in the nation.
On Thursday, Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration in their latest Covid-19 vaccine weekly safety report acknowledged the death, stating the woman’s case of thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) was “likely to be linked to the AstraZeneca vaccine.”
“Sadly, a 34-year-old woman from NSW died yesterday from confirmed TTS following a first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine,” the administration wrote on its website. “The TGA extends its sincerest condolences to her family and loved ones. We are in close communication with NSW health who are undertaking further investigation of this case.”
The death comes as the Australian government last month amended its advisory to urge all adults in Greater Sydney to “strongly consider” getting the jab.
According to ABC.net.au, the unnamed woman is the seventh Australian to die from blood clots linked to AstraZeneca’s vaccine.
“Six of those deaths were linked to TTS, while the other was a case of immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), which is when your immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys platelets,” reports ABC News.
Despite the deaths, and the fact that over 15 European nations earlier this year halted AstraZeneca distribution citing concerns over blood clots, Australian health officials continue to claim the supposed protection vaccines allegedly provide outweighs the risks of Covid-19.
The latest death comes as Australia enters another ruthlessly authoritarian lockdown.
