Texas Democrat gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke again told Texans he’ll try to confiscate semi-automatic rifles from citizens if elected.
A notorious flip-flopper, Beto infamously said in 2019, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15,” before changing his tone in 2022, claiming, “I’m not interested in taking anything from anyone.”
Last week, the Beto campaign website was quietly edited to say he no longer supports civilian ownership of so-called assault rifles.
During recent campaign events in extremely conservative areas of Texas, Beto told voters, “I just took the position that may not be politically popular and may be too honest that not only should no one be able to purchase an AR-15 or an AK-47, because they’re designed to kill humans and that high-impact, high-velocity round will just tear up everything inside you. You’ll bleed out before we can get you back to life.”
Going even further, Beto added, “I don’t think that the people who have them right now in civilian use should be able to keep them.”
When pressed by CNN about how he’d implement a gun confiscation program in Texas, Beto became flustered and failed to come up with a clear plan of action.
The Texas Democrat was slammed for using the tragic Uvalde shooting to promote his gubernatorial campaign when he confronted Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott during a press conference about the massacre last week.
Running a hardcore anti-Second Amendment campaign in the state of Texas isn’t a winning formula.
