A top health official in Denmark suffered a bizarre fainting spell during a press conference as she announced the suspension of the WHO-approved AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccine.
Footage (which has been censored by the BBC) from Wednesday shows the head of Denmark’s Medicines Agency, Tanja Erichsen, standing alongside National Board of Health director Soeren Brostroem when she unexpectedly falls to the floor.
Several men in the vicinity immediately attend to Erichsen, who appears disoriented and bewildered. She was reportedly taken to the hospital and is recovering.
The presser was regarding Denmark’s full-on suspension of the AstraZeneca jab from the nation’s vaccine rollout, after the Danish Health Authority claimed “There is a link between rare, but serious” side effects following the vaccine.
The country, along with over 15 other nations, paused the vaccine’s rollout last month after two Danish citizens died from blood clots, as many other reported similar clots.
Denmark is the first country to announce a permanent suspension of the AstraZeneca vaccine, which was approved by the World Health Organization in February.
It’s unclear if Erichsen received a vaccine, but her Twitter account is filled with posts promoting the Covid vaccines.
