UC Berkeley’s African American Studies Department held its annual “Black Graduation” ceremony for students this month, creating backlash on social media.
The department noted the black-only ceremony “is open to all majors and degree programs across the campus.”
Popular Twitter account KanekoaTheGreat shared a video from the graduation and noted that selecting participants based on race contradicts “the very laws established during the Civil Rights movement, which vehemently outlawed racial segregation.”
In the video, fired-up graduates are seen jumping around and banging sticks on the ground as a speaker talks about “reparations for African Americans.”
Corrupt California Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters even delivered a video message to the all-black crowd.
“This is definitely your time and don’t let anyone tell you differently,” she said. “We are counting on you to fix the problems we have been fighting for for so long to correct and enable this country to live up to its promise. It can and should be a land of equal opportunity. Because everyone will benefit when all of us can live up to our potential.”
Yes, the elder Democrat actually mentioned equal opportunity at a segregated event without a hint of irony.
In addition to the black graduation celebration, UC Berkeley hosted a “Lavender Graduation” for LGBTQ students, “Chicanx Latinx Graduation for Hispanic students,” a “Pasifika Graduation” for Pacific Islander students, and a “Pilipinx Graduation for Filipino students.”
Berkeley College Republicans spokesperson Utkarsh Jain told Campus Reform, “It doesn’t seem like, you know, [the university is] really following the law” when it comes to equal opportunity.
Jain also suggested the majority of students on campus disagree with the far-left racial division, but said they’re afraid to speak out, explaining, “I think that we have a kind of epidemic of cowardice in this country that needs to be fixed.”
“There were segregated housing units based off of race and identity, which kind of seemed very odd to me,” Jain told Campus Reform.
Meanwhile, proving the Marxist racial push is a global phenomenon, a theater located in a ‘diverse’ area of London has been accused of setting a “dangerous precedent” after telling white visitors to stay away from the July 5 performance of Tambo & Bones.
Infowars’ Paul Joseph Watson mocked the “pro-BLM” play for its racist “diversity” policy.
