Former Vice President Joe Biden’s problematic son Hunter announced Wednesday he’s under federal investigation over his taxes.
In a statement through the Biden-Harris Transition team, Hunter claimed he learned about the investigation yesterday and that it involves his taxes.
“I learned yesterday for the first time that the US Attorney’s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs,” Hunter’s statement reads.
“I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisers.”
An anonymous source told CNN the investigation is now back on after it was postponed during the election, in accordance with DOJ policies:
Now that the election is over, the investigation is entering a new phase. Federal prosecutors in Delaware, working with the IRS Criminal Investigation agency and the FBI, are taking overt steps such as issuing subpoenas and seeking interviews, the person with knowledge said.
CNN and others report the investigation involving possible tax fraud is centered around Hunter’s business dealings with China.
