Parts of Los Angeles and surrounding areas have been hit hard by wildfires that raged throughout the day on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning numerous dramatic videos of the blaze have been posted to social media. In addition to the harrowing footage, a number of reports document strange phenomena such as fire insurance plans being revoked in the weeks preceding the blaze, empty fire hydrants, power lines left on in high winds and the plans for some of the burning areas to become smart cities in the next few years.
Social media account Los Angeles Scanner reported updated numbers for the area burned Wednesday morning, the Palisades fire being at 2,900 acres and the Eaton fire at 2,227+ acres, although the figures will likely be updated throughout the day.

While there may be no water to fight the fires, the power grid has been left on, potentially sparking off new fires as high winds ravage the lines.
