A transgender runner who defeated over 14,000 women in the London Marathon was criticized over his biological advantage.

Trans athlete Glen Frank, 54, who now identifies as “Glenique,” finished in 6,160th place out of 20,123 runners, trouncing 14,000 women.

In an interview following the race, Frank – who wore a rainbow bra despite having the physique of a male athlete – exclaimed he used “Girl power!” to finish the race and gushed he was excited his son was having a baby, saying, “I’m going to be a granny.”

Following the event, Frank was criticized by two-time Olympic runner Mara Yamauchi, who asserted he’d deprived thousands of female runners of the spot.

“This male ran in yesterday’s #LondonMarathon as Glenique Frank in the female category (Mass race) finishing 6160th place out of 20123,” Yamauchi, who finished sixth at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, wrote on Twitter.

“So nearly 14,000 actual females suffered a worse finish position bc of him.”

“Last month, he ran in the Tokyo Marathon, as Glen Frank.”

Yamauchi went on to explain UK Athletics applied World Athletics’ rules to exclude transgender women from elite female competitions in March, but allowed those who had already entered races to compete in non-biological sex categories.

“Under UKA transitional arrangements, males who had already entered races in the F category could still race. I assume this is how Frank was allowed to race ystday,” she wrote. “Nevertheless, males in the F category is UNFAIR for females.”

Speaking to the New York Post, Frank explained, “I ticked female because I see myself as female,” saying he’s “known since I was five that I was in the wrong body.”

He also called the negative public attention he’s received “traumatic” saying he’s only “trying to spread joy and happiness with the rainbow love,” and addressed Yamauchi’s sentiments saying,  “I get it… I feel sad that I’ve upset Mara, because I respect her.”

Frank told the Post in the future he’s “going to enter under ‘other’ or ‘male,’ just to keep everybody happy.”
