CNN medical analyst Dr. Leanna Wen declared “it’s time” for governments to consider imposing vaccine mandates throughout the country.
Wen claimed last week that more people need to be vaccinated due to the contagiousness of the delta variant in order for the population to reach “herd immunity.”
“I don’t think it’s too late. I do think that it’s time, though, for vaccine mandates,” Wen stated.
The former Washington Post columnist went on to point out incentive programs are failing to convince enough people to take the jab, and said it’s time for government to employ coercion methods in order to force compliance.
“We have seen that the other methods that we’re using including with incentives, with education and outreach – yes, they are convincing some people, but there is a huge middle group, if you will, that’s not yet moved, but we know based on polling that if there are requirements that these individuals will get vaccinated, and I think it’s time to do that in the interest of the public’s health.”
The analyst’s tyrannical proposal follows similar comments by fellow CNN colleague Don Lemon, who last week said “selfish” and “ignorant” vaccinated people should be punished and banned from participating in society.
“That’s what you have to start telling people. If you don’t get vaccinated, you can’t come into this office or this place of business. If you don’t get vaccinated, you can’t come into this gym. If you don’t get vaccinated, you can’t get on to this airplane,” Lemon stated.
As far as a nationwide order, Joe Biden said during a press conference last week he would like the federal government to implement a mandate, but still isn’t sure if that’s legal.
We’ll see how this plays out, especially considering the results of a recent YouGov poll back in May, which found nearly 80 percent of unvaccinated respondents said nothing could change their mind or convince them to get vaccinated.
