Leftist CNN correspondent Van Jones voiced concerns that Kamala Harris has not managed to pull ahead of Donald Trump in polls, despite a friendly press pushing positive propaganda for her non-stop over the past two weeks.
Providing a glimpse into Democrat anxiety over the tight race, Jones, who previously served as an advisor to Barack Obama, said he was hopeful this week’s Democratic National Convention would give Harris a bump in polls, as she’s currently neck-and-neck with Trump.
“This is the big opportunity to go from a tied race to push our numbers up 1 point, 2 points, maybe 3 points,” Jones said following Day 1 of the DNC.
“We come out of this convention with a major bounce, that puts us in the best possible position after Labor Day. We don’t want to be tied,” Jones said, adding Harris should be further ahead due to positive coverage.
“I don’t like being tied with Donald Trump, because we’ve had now 20-plus days of positive press,” he said.
“He’s been falling down the stairs, slipping on banana peels and poking himself in the eyeballs,” Jones claimed. “We should not be tied. We want to pull ahead.”
Jones went on to agree with CNN political commentator and former Trump campaign adviser David Urban, who remarked it’s surprising Kamala’s tied with Trump, considering she’s been running a “flawless” campaign.
“They’re doing the best they can, and it’s tied, that’s really important,” Urban said, prompting Jones to add, “That’s scary.”
Former Obama adviser David Axelrod expressed similar concerns during a panel discussion Monday night, telling a CNN panel, “If the election were today, I’m not sure who would win, and I think it may well be President Trump…”
PANIC: @davidaxelrod admits on @CNN that if the election were held today Trump would likely win.
Reminder: Axelrod has seen the internal polls the public hasn't seen.

Indeed, a bump in polls would help keep up Harris’ momentum, and the fact that it has not yet manifested should be a worrying sign for Dems.
Add to that the fact that RFK Jr’s running mate Nicole Shanahan on Tuesday suggested their campaign might consider backing Trump to prevent a Kamala presidency, and Democrats should be in total panic of another stinging defeat.
