During a campaign rally in Manchester, New Hampshire Thursday, former President Donald Trump announced he’d retire his infamous nickname “Crooked Hillary” and instead bestow it upon his political rival, President Joe Biden.
“As you know I’ve done very well against Crooked Hillary Clinton, but today, I’m going to do this,” Trump said teeing up what he called a “major announcement.”
“I will be retiring the name ‘Crooked’ from Hillary Clinton & her moniker,” Trump said to groans from the crowd.
“And I’m gonna give her a new name—I don’t know—maybe ‘Lovely’ Hillary or ‘Beautiful’ Hillary,” Trump joked.
“But I’m going to retire the name ‘crooked’ so that we can use the name for Joe Biden, because he’ll be known from now on as ‘Crooked’ Joe Biden,” the former president said eliciting cheers and applause.
Trump’s announcement came in reference to Joe Biden’s formal declaration earlier this week he intends to seek four more “disastrous” years in office.
Trump’s decision to retire the “Crooked Hillary” nickname marks the end of an era in American politics. The nickname first gained prominence during the 2016 presidential campaign, when Trump repeatedly used it as a “linguistic kill shot” against his opponent, Hillary Clinton.
Elsewhere in his speech, Trump said he’d issue a nationwide prohibition on so-called “gender-affirming” surgeries, saying, “I will sign a law prohibiting child sexual mutilation in all 50 States.”
