U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials have been directed by headquarters to stop using the term “Mexican cartel” when dealing with the media, according to an internal email.
The correspondence, obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation from a government official on Thursday, orders DEA officials to instead use the term “drug cartel” when speaking to reporters.

“Also, we need to now avoid saying ‘Mexican cartel’ or discussing the Mexican government or law enforcement cooperation with Mexico. Please continue using ‘drug cartel,’ [transnational criminal organizations], [drug trafficking organizations], etc,” a portion of the email sent in July states.
This new guidance comes as Mexican cartels continue trafficking drugs across the collapsed U.S. southern border.
In a May interview on “Sunday Morning Futures,” former acting DEA administrator Timothy Shea described how the Mexican cartels were surging drugs across the border with virtually no resistance from the Biden administration.
“What we’re seeing now at the border is a tidal wave of drugs coming into this country. And it’s very concerning,” he told host Maria Bartiromo.
“Fentanyl and meth are leading the way on those. And those are the two most dangerous drugs. Fentanyl has seen an increase — a 90 percent increase in the amount seized on the border coming into this country. And that’s a tremendous amount.”
Shea also explained the Chinese-Mexican drug pipeline, where the Chinese import the fentanyl into Mexico to then get distributed into the U.S. via the southern border.
“You know, 90-plus percent of the hard drugs, particularly fentanyl and
meth, come through the Southwest border from Mexico. They’re produced in Mexico. And there’s a Chinese-Mexican connection here in two ways,” he said.
“One is they are responsible for helping produce these chemicals. So, the
precursor chemicals come from China and are imported into Mexico, where, in clandestine labs, the cartels produce industrial quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamines. And then those are imported into the United States.”
“In addition, Chinese national facilitates the drug trafficking
organizations by laundering the money. So, you have Chinese nationals
throughout the United States doing money pickups for the cartels and
laundering that money back to them in Mexico,” he added.
It appears the Biden administration is more concerned with not offending the Mexican cartels than addressing the crime, drugs, and violence they’re bringing to the U.S. border.
