Democrat strategist James Carville slammed the Kamala Harris campaign’s misuse of billions of dollars of donor cash, claiming the damage it’s done to the “Democrat brand” is “almost unfathomable.”
Carville on his Politics War Room podcast Thursday called for an audit of Kamala’s 2024 campaign after her humiliating election defeat despite raising over $1 billion in just a few months after the Democrats installed Harris as their nominee to replace Joe Biden.
“The resistance is going to have trouble raising money. These fundraisers are burnt. They’re really pissed now. The damage that the 2024 campaign has done to the Democratic brand is almost unfathomable,” Carville said.
🚨“Two and a half freaking billion dollars.”

“I would say policy number one is, we’re going to audit everything. We’re going to audit the campaign. We’re going to audit Future Forward. We’re gonna audit the DNC [Democratic National Committee].”
“The campaign we think raised a billion and a half dollars,” he continued. “We know that Future Forward, the last we saw, was $900 million, so we can assume that they got to a billion before election. That’s two and a half freaking billion dollars.”
“Do you have any idea where the money went?” Carville asked. “Does anybody have any idea where that money went? Well, I mean, I have some places I’d start looking. The amount of money and the amount of lobbyists that were involved in this campaign is staggering.”
Despite raking in over $2.3 billion in cash for her campaign and billions more in indirect support through the PAC-based campaign financing loophole, the Harris campaign reportedly ended up $20 million in debt in the aftermath of the election, resulting in mass layoffs of staffers.
Consequently Kamala Harris and her campaign surrogates in the days following her devastating election defeat were still prodding donors for more money.
One big potential source of the debts could have been the last-minute concerts in seven swing states featuring big name artists like Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Megan Thee Stallion.
The Harris campaign also reportedly paid billionaire Oprah Winfrey $2.5 million to host a town hall for the Democrat selectee.
The campaign even paid about $900,000 to plaster the vice president’s face on the Las Vegas Sphere in the days running up to the election — and Kamala still lost Nevada.
