Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) slammed outgoing NIAID Director Anthony Fauci Wednesday, joking that the lying doctor’s departure should be hastened by literally throwing him out of Washington.

Campaigning for Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) at a “Keep Florida Free” rally in Central Florida, DeSantis blasted Dr. Fauci for lies claiming there was no damage to children caused by arbitrary Covid lockdowns.

“We were the ones who stood on the wall, more than any other state, to say we are not going to be locking people down, and we’re going to be lifting people up,” said DeSantis.

“You have people like Fauci saying that his lockdowns didn’t cause any permanent damage to any young kids. I got news for you. It did. And we’re going to reap those rewards across the whole country for years and years and years because they treated kids so poorly,” DeSantis said.

The Florida governor then pivoted to recent news that Fauci would be leaving his government position of 38 years in December.

“And I’m just sick of seeing him,” he added. “I know he said he’s going to retire. Someone needs to grab that little elf and chuck him across the Potomac.”

Fauci has been frequently criticized throughout the pandemic for his ties to the virus’s possible lab-leak origins and his mishandling of the crisis, as noted by RT:

Fauci has drawn heated criticism from Republicans and conservative critics throughout the pandemic, with many slamming his policy advice for officials, while others have pointed to potentially dangerous coronavirus research funded by Fauci’s agency before the global Covid outbreak. Though the official has insisted all funding was vetted and approved through the proper channels, GOP Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has vowed to probe NIAID and Fauci in particular, calling for a “full-throated investigation into the origins of the pandemic” earlier this week.

DeSantis also discussed Joe Biden, saying “he’s the worst President of my lifetime.”

Compare the governor’s remarks to those of Florida Democrat gubernatorial primary winner Charlie Crist, who showered the low-polling dementia-ridden US president with effusive praise following his victory Tuesday night.

Addressing his upcoming opponent for the governor’s seat in November, DeSantis noted, “The thing that separates [Crist] from me is that he’s a politician and I’m a leader.”
