Brazilian demonstrators took to the streets protesting “rigged” election results claiming to show far-left candidate Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva defeated populist Jair Bolsonaro in a recent presidential election.
Footage out of Rio de Janeiro Wednesday showed mass protests outside the Eastern Military Command headquarters, where Bolsonaro supporters called on the military to intervene in the election, with some chanting, “Armed forces, save Brazil!” and “United, the people will never be defeated!” according to CBS News.

One video out of the hundreds of astonishing images coming out of the region showed a little girl bring military guardsmen flowers, which they accepted.
Sweet. A little girl brings flowers & flag of Brazil to military during the nation's election protest.
In
, she would be deemed a fringe right-wing extremist with unacceptable views worthy of invoking the Emergencies Act and ceasing her dolls & stuffed animals. #TrudeauMustGo pic.twitter.com/EK6tqsFJrH

Photos on the ground by Getty Images photographers failed to capture the grand scale of the demonstrations, with one Twitter user estimating the number of protesters to be in the “millions.”
Footage from Tuesday showed Brazilian truckers and farmers working in tandem to shut down traffic on major freeways in opposition to the election results, with demands that the military overturn the results and arrest Lula.

The protests have continued despite reports Wednesday claiming Bolsonaro conceded defeat, according to a Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Luiz Edson Fachin who spoke with him for over an hour.
From Al Jazeera:
After a private meeting with Bolsonaro later that day, Supreme Court Justice Luiz Edson Fachin said the former army captain had said, “It is over. So, let’s look ahead.” The justice made the comment in a video broadcast on local media.
Reuters reports police made headway to quell protests and remove roadblocks by Wednesday evening.
