Things went from bad to worse for South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during Wednesday’s White House meeting after a guest he brought along ended up confirming President Donald Trump’s assertions that white farmers were being murdered.

After Ramaphosa was humbled by footage contradicting his claims, his guest, two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen, proceeded to recount personal tales of brutal violence endured by Afrikaner farmers.

“My dad was a property developer as well as a part-time farmer. And yeah, some of his buddy farmers got killed… but it’s a constant battle with farms trying to get, they’re trying to burn the farms down to chase you away,” Goosen told Trump.

“So it is a concern to try and make a living as a farmer, and at the end day, you know, without farmers there’s no food on the plate, so we need the farmers to produce the food.”

Goosen noted while his father’s farm can obtain clean water from a “borehole,” “it is a battle to get the water out sometimes when all the equipment gets stolen all the time…”

Asked by Trump whether his brother and family felt safe, the pro golfer responded they live on a secure property, but are wary when they go out at night.

“They live behind electric fences, you know, trying to be at night safe, but it is, it is constant whenever you leave that something could happen. You know, both of them has been attacked in their houses, my mom’s been attacked in her house and she was 80, so it is difficult,” Goosen said.

The golfer’s testimony bolsters the president’s point that the Afrikaners require refugee status, especially considering they’re being targeted for mass murder as evidenced by footage Trump showed to President Ramaphosa Wednesday.
