An FBI whistleblower alleged to the House Judiciary Committee that top FBI brass passed down orders to conceal at least 25 confidential human sources participating in the protest at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The Washington Times reported Wednesday that a whistleblower came forward to Congress claiming that FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate told subordinates to not publicly acknowledge at least 25 FBI informants because to do so would humiliate the bureau.

An FBI agent told the House Judiciary Committee that Deputy Director Paul Abbate suggested that at least 25 FBI confidential human sources, or informants, involved in reporting to the bureau from the Jan. 6, 2021, protest should not be publicly acknowledged.

According to the whistleblower disclosure sent to the committee, Mr. Abbate notified one or more of his subordinates that the more than 25 informants were too problematic or embarrassing for the FBI to have their existence made known to the public and that the existence, activities and identities of these FBI confidential human sources should not be released.

This damning report comes as FBI Director Christopher Wray testified before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday to answer for whistleblowers alleging FBI misconduct and political weaponization of several investigations.

Wray at one point was asked by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) how many FBI informants were present on January 6., but the FBI director refused to directly answer.

“I really need to be careful here talking about where we have or have not used confidential human sources…” Wray said.

Darrell cut in: “Was there one or more individuals that would fit that description on January 6 that were in or around the Capitol?”

Wray replied, “I believe there is a filing in one of the January 6 cases that can provide a little bit more information about this and I’m happy to see if we can follow back up with you.”

Not satisfied, Issa asked, “I just want an answer. Was there one or more? I mean, you would know if there was at least one individual who worked for the FBI who entered the Capitol on that day.”

Wray again dodged: “I just can’t speak to that here, but I’m happy to get the court filing…”

Issa interrupted and called out Wray’s stonewalling: “Look, it’s been two years…I asked you simply if there’s one or more, and you won’t answer that. So I’m going to make the assumption that was more than one, more than 5, more than 10, and that you’re ducking the question because you don’t want to answer for the fact that you had at least one, and somehow missed understanding that some of the individuals were very dangerous and that there were others inciting individuals to enter the Capitol after others broke windows.”
