A suspect decked out in a FedEx uniform was arrested for smuggling illegal aliens in a ‘cloned’ cargo truck in California, authorities say.
The incident unfolded near San Diego last month, but U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) just released details about the bust.
On Dec. 17, USBP agents working Campo Station observed a suspicious vehicle near Highway 94 bearing logos falsely representing the well-known logistics company and initiated a stop.
“A vehicle stop of the van resulted in the app of the driver wearing a FedEx uniform, along with 9 others who were illegally present in the US,” San Diego Sector Chief Patricia D. McGurk-Daniel explained in a statement.

The illegals were found laying on the floor and seats within the truck, USBP stated in a press release.
The driver was arrested pending federal prosecution, and the nine illegals were taken into custody and transported to a nearby USBP facility for processing.
“This is a stark reminder of the great lengths smuggling organizations will take to conduct their illicit activity,” said Chief McGurk-Daniel said.
“San Diego Sector Border Patrol continues to remain vigilant in detecting and dismantling criminal activity in the San Diego area.”
