Joe Biden this time last year terminated a national security program launched by former President Donald Trump to counter Chinese espionage in the United States.
A year later, in the face of considerable public pressure, Biden ordered the Pentagon to shoot down a Chinese surveillance balloon over Myrtle Beach on Saturday after allowing it to float across the continental United States for days.

Biden says he ordered the Pentagon to shoot down the Chinese spy balloon on Wednesday, but they told him to “wait for the safest place to do it.”

The China Initiative was established in 2018 under then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions to help thwart China’s aggressive efforts to steal American intellectual property and to spy on American industry and research.
But in 2022, the Biden administration had claimed it shuttered the anti-CCP espionage program because it was racist.
“We have heard concerns from the civil rights community that the ‘China Initiative’ fueled a narrative of intolerance and bias,” said Matthew Olsen, assistant attorney general for national security in Feb. 2022.
“To many, that narrative suggests that the Justice Department treats people from China or of Chinese descent differently. The rise in anti-Asian hate crime and hate incidents only heightens these concerns. The Department is keenly aware of this threat and is enhancing efforts to combat acts of hate. These efforts are reflected in the Attorney General’s memorandum issued last year following the enactment of the COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act.”
“Anything that creates the impression that the Department of Justice applies different standards based on race or ethnicity harms the department and our efforts, and it harms the public,” Olsen added.
This is just another example of how Biden’s “America Last” policies have once again put America’s sovereignty and national security at risk, as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) pointed out Saturday.
Chinese espionage is a very real threat. That’s why President Trump established a special initiative at the Department of Justice tasked with the sole mission of targeting Chinese espionage in the United States.
Joe Biden terminated that program right away.

But don’t expect the mainstream media or other Democrats to point any of this out.
