French intelligence operatives are investigating Friday’s arson attacks on a high-speed railway network in Croiselles that took place just hours ahead of the Olympics opening ceremonies.

The Russian government is one suspect in the disruptive assault while far-left green activists could also be responsible.

Thousands of travelers have been stranded while trying to make it to Paris for the event.

According to the Daily Mail, “Fears are mounting that Moscow may be behind a ‘massive arson attack’ which has brought chaos to France’s rail network ahead of the Olympics opening ceremony.”

Another article by the outlet also noted, “French intelligence is looking into far-left or environmentalist protesters being behind the railway chaos in France.”

The potential Russian connection stems from the Wednesday arrest of “an alleged Russian spy” named Kirill Gryaznov, who was charged by France with working for a foreign power “to try and incite hostilities” in the country.

The French government claims Gryaznov is working for Russia’s FSB domestic intelligence agency.

Sources say the Russian reality TV star Gryaznov had made a statement about turning the Paris Olympics into “an opening ceremony like no other.”

The Telegraph suggested Russia is the “prime suspect” in the railway arson attack.

However, Daily Mail said the far-left “eco-mob” are the “main suspects” in the train vandalism.

While it’s clear French authorities don’t know exactly what happened yet, the media isn’t wasting any time trying to escalate the Ukraine-Russia conflict into a full-on world war.
