Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz has raised alarm over Democratic House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s “reckless” comments on how America is “at war” with Russia.
“Representatives now recklessly assert that we are at war!” said Gaetz in a newly released clip that juxtaposed his previous warnings to Hoyer’s Friday speech on the House floor. “Regime change in Russia is their actual objective, not defending Ukraine.”
The above clip was published on Gaetz’s Twitter shortly after Hoyer used his station to blame Russia instead of America’s politicians for the gas crisis
“I wish we’d get off this and really focus on the enemy,” said Hoyer Friday. “I know there’s a lot of politics here, but we’re at war. We need to produce energy.”

“It is unfortunate that in a time of war, that we spend all the time blaming our own president,” Hoyer continued. “It is unfortunate that when the Europeans put themselves over the objections of numerous administrations in a place where they had a dependence on Russia, Russia has no leverage over us, we don’t need Russia for energy.”
When asked for comment, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claimed she had yet to see Hoyer’s comments in “full context.”
Since becoming viral, Hoyer’s comments have been ripped apart across the internet:
