Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC) exposed what he called a “sinister” provision in the $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill where no less than $575 million is to be spent on aborting Americans in areas with high population growth.
According to the bill, over half a billion U.S. tax dollars “should be made available for family planning/reproductive health, including in areas where population growth threatens biodiversity or endangered species.”
“Here’s at least $575 million for ‘family planning’ in areas where population growth ‘threatens biodiversity.’ Malthusianism is a disturbing, anti-human ideology that should have ZERO place in any federal program,” Bishop wrote on Twitter Tuesday.
The Washington Examiner reports, “It’s unclear why the provision expressly notes it should go toward areas where population growth threatens biodiversity or what type of family planning services would be provided with the funding. Several Republican figures criticized that particular item in the 4,200-page bill as an example of wasteful government spending.”
With the majority of GOP voters likely opposing the funding of abortions in order to combat population growth, it’s worth noting which Senate Republicans voted to pass the bill.
The House could vote on the legislation Thursday evening where they’d then rush it to Biden’s desk before government funding “runs out” Friday.
